Epilogue
It was great reading this again - a perfect resolution to the question of what happened to all the treasures - like your Spuffy treatment and resolution very much.

glad to see your newest addition is being posted.
Thanks for going back and looking at this again.  I just can't think of Spike as wasteful - I know he's too smart to have left all that loot where it was - and I wouldn't be surprised if he had tons of other assets he doesn't brag about.

Epilogue
Very much enjoyed your terrific Spike Giving this wonderful party to Buffy and all her fellow warriors - Great way to bring in the fortune from The Gem of Amara episode.  Spike being a man or creature without access to funds never made much sense to me.

Epilogue
Not the way I'd hoped it would end, that's the romantic in me, but she finally is thinking about him as someone she could have a relationship with. If she only knew those were Angel's, Oh well, looking forward to the sequel whenever you start it. Thanks for posting it here, glad I didn't miss out on it. Great job.

fun read, thank you. buffy really has to grow up sometime. spike's comment about angel was hysterical.
Thanks vladt. I think Buffy will grow up eventually, but you know it takes these kids longer nowadays LOL.

Epilogue
only that last little bit from spike's pespective made the ending bearable for me...i couldn't have stood it if she had just left with that misunderstanding and broken his heart again completely....at least this way he knows what the issue is and he can tell her in the morning if he wants to :) great fic, very emotional and touching, i loved it :)
Thanks DoS, but the way I see it, those two are continually misunderstanding one another, and just keep missing those moments when they should be able to make it work.

Prequel? fun!

Sequel? If they end up together, a necessity! :)
Prequel will be titled Not Quite working for a Living and deals with the months Spike lived with Harmony in season 5, and how he met George and the other 'dancers.' The sequel is post NFA and takes place many years later.

Epilogue
Nothing quite like a Buffy leaping to conclusions again. Typical. I enjoyed the story, and can't wait for both the prequel and the sequel.
Thanks nightshift. Prequel Season 5, Spike has a job, Sequel, much later, Buffy finally grows up (I think)

God -- the poor bloke never gets a break. He just can't win. Thanks for the story.
I think that's part of his charm. Thanks for the reviews.

Bless his heart alway's thinking of his girl's, What a beautiful spirit he has. Putting so much thought and work into this and wanting those who were able to walk away to have something to make their journey easier. Thank you for bringing out his humanity. As we've discussed before I don't think she deserves him but he love's her, so, I want for him to have her, Now for the last chapter. Great writting Cas, Just love this, thanks.

excellent read, thank you. love the transition from bitchy buffy to giggling buffy.
Thank you. And yeah, I think Buffy could do that, but its harder for me personally. My bitchy moods tend to linger.

Glad you covered a bit of reality -- I always wondered how they survived in S7. I hope that one day Buffy lets herself believe in Spike.
Thanks, it did seem strange to me that here's Buffy season 6 practically starving and come season 7 she's feeding a houseful of potential slayers?

there, thats better, buffy!! he's been so nice all night and she was just plain hateful to him...poor spike...another excellent chapter, love, i am very much looking forward to the next :)
Spike at his best can be very sweet. remeber all those thoughful gifts for Dru, a diamond necklace, even if they were sometimes horrible things like The Judge. A lot of thought and planning went into that gift.

She's such a bitch, can't she stop for one second to think about how right Spike is. She know's they're not all going to make it. Yeah, she want's to live in the land of Egypt for a while but she's the slayer and she can't. Thanks for reminding us that this is still Joss Whedon's Buffy. Fantastic job, thanks.

very good chapter, thank you. xander is an idiot. anya and faith do understand aparty. buffy has broken her agreement, again.
Buffy is not very good at keeping promises, and I agree with the rest. Xander definitely gets off too easily, but at least Anya gets some measure of revenge. I think a little R & R would do Buffy a world of good too.

Only Spike would think it was a good idea to invite male strippers to the party to give the SITs something to look at. In a way it's awfully sweet, giving the girls that won't make it a good memory. It definetly seems like Anya and Faith are appreciative, and you have to admire their candor when it came to making their choices. I'm very curious how Spike came to know all of them though.....perhaps he did a lot of work there too.
Deb- a woman after my heart. that is what the sequel is all about - Not Quite Working for a living. I'll continue posting that as soon as this fic is done.

man, she's gonna scare them all to death before they ever get to fight the first *rolls eyes at dumb, emotionally constipated buffy* great chapter, very interesting, looking forward to more :)
Buffy has a hard time being nice or accepting that others want to be nice to her. So yeah, what you said.

Buffy, you're a dope.
Can't disagree. Only I see this Buffy as a little more sympatheic. I mean, she is really strung out by this point and at least she is nicer than she was the prior year.

Sounds like Buffy could use a little aerial spraying of Valium. Might work better than pepper spray or mace on her.
Good idea. Even more than season 6 Buffy really needed a release - at least the year before she had Spike to take out her sexual and violent frustrations on.

I've been waiting a long, long time for Xander to get his comeuppance about the wedding disaster, and this was perfect! I hope George gives Anya lots of orgasms ;)Thanks for writing this story!
Far less than what Xander deserves. He is lucky vengeance demons er justice demons couldn't grant themselves wishes.

Buffy has a hard time staying out of bitch mode, it is her normal MO, and besides, wouldn't you be bitchy if a horde of teenage girls suddenly descended on your house wanting all kinds of things from you. Plus your boyfriend came back (well, sort of) but you can't pursue that relationship or even have a private conversation because of said horde? I know I'd be in a pissy mood.

Slayer's dream? We can only hope. Let it to Buffy to mess with his mind so much. She has such a hard time not being Bitchy Buffy. It's so natural to her, isn't it? Wood and Spike haven't had their get together, I gather. Does this mean that Giles isn't so hard on him now? Spike doing her hair was very erotic, I bet he wanted to kiss her throat. Fantastic chapter, so glad I can read it through. Wonderful read, sweetie.

I wish they both could be more honest about their feelings. Buffy really needed to speak up against the crew in the kitchen and let them know the food and drink that was put away clearly wasn't for them. And I'm really upset that her first reaction was to hit him and be somewhat snarky. She really needs to work on creating a better relationship with him, especially if she wants that dream to come true.
Yes, they are still not communicating very well, and Buffy lets the wrong people push her around and tell her what to do. But I see it as hopeful that she can be snarky and violent with Spike, because at least she is being herself LOL.

buffy shoul have just continued on in her dream, real can be depressing. very good read, thank you.
It always seems like the really good dreams never last...and morning is always too soon.

man, poor spike...the nerve of them all, talking about him "holding out on them"...he's the one who set the whole thing up, it's his party, his money, his everything, so if he wants to hold it back that's his right, isn't it? and buffy should stand up for *him*, even if she wont stand up for himself...this chapter was amazing, love, the visuals were incredible...and it got me all steamed up too, so the emotional reaction factor is there as well...great job, really looking forward to your next installment :)
Well, they always were a bunch of moochers, weren't they? Especially in seasons 6 & 7. And yes, Buffy is still letting them take advantage of her and is overly concerned with their opinions. She is only herself with Spike - which is why the should be together!

Next time, Spike, LOCK the kitchen door. When Willy has more of a clue than everyone else, that's pathetic.
LOL. Didn't think of it that way. But yeah, I think Willy is seriously underplayed in fanfic. What a terrific character!

Nothing Spike does will ever be good enough for this bunch of worthless gits!
No, it really never will, up to and including his turning to ash while saving the world - or else why hide out with Angel when he comes back?

Lovely dream for Buffy. I feel sorry for Spike, thinking he'll always be blamed for the bad, and the way the others came into the kitchen, ruined the mood and annoyed him. Great chapter.
I think one of the reasons Spike on Angel is so like earlier versions, is that he had such a hard time Season 7 - my justification for Josverse idiocy anyway.

Aw, just when it seemed to be going really well, RL intrudes and things get complicated. Good job!

Wow, what a wonderful idea. A ball. The girl's are going to flip. With that little spark between them, the first dance should be very interesting. I never thought about it but he never told her that he loved her, did he? Not after coming back, not til their last night together. How romantic William is. Excellent beginning, thanks.

How sweet is Spike in all of this! He is doing a really nice thing for all of them and especially Buffy. Really hope she can keep her word and not complain because clearly this means a lot to him.
Yeah, its going to be a tough night for her hehehe. And souled Spike WAS amazingly sweet, until he reappeared in Angels office.

lovely first chapter. hard to believe buffy is actually giving some thought to her actions. thanks for the fine read. now, let's party.
You are not the first to make that comment. I figure this is her moment for reflection - the calm before the major action - with real fear of death finally making its presence known.

awww...that was so lovely...love the whole idea of the party, and i'd love to see it....wish you would write more of this, love, it's excellent :)
Thanks DoS. I picture it as a very Victorian type gathering - Season 7 Spike being more William than at any other time.

Oh lovely beginning. I can't wait for the party...I'm so glad you're posting this here. :)
It's a sweet romantic story - Buffy and Spike didn't get too many moments like that. Of course there are a few rough spots too.
