Why wasn't canon Sam so perceptive?  Liking this Sam, too!

So Sam still fancies Riley and now he's not back with TheGirlOfHisDreams perhaps she has a second chance. I wonder what the real reason is for her arrival... Glad Buffy feels she can be open about her relationship with Spike around Riley, even if he doesn't feel altogether comfortable with it.

Oh, love how Sam came into the story even with Riley not being with her. Nice way to both stick to the events of season 6 and incorporate a bit of Riley's life outside of Sunnydale and the Scoobies. I loved that bit at the beginning about him being happy for Spike and Buffy. Again, I'm actually liking your Riley! Anyhow, wonderful chapter. I wonder if Riley will leave or Sam will stay and if something happens between them or if they'll seperate again. Looking forward to finding out!

I'm pleased Riley has some good news, he has been incredibly decent.

So he did not begrudge them their happiness, even if he was a little sick of watching them fawn over each other. It was probably a relief, he imagined, finally having someone you didn’t have to hide in front of. He just wasn’t sure he wanted that privilege.

So very understandable. I hope that Riley enjoyed his "time out". It seems like it's about to end.

Darn when I saw the title of the chapter, I thought maybe it'd be the whole party fiasco with Spike's past love interest. Even if Dawn hadn't brought her out. Oh well. Great chapter, as always!
