Really good story but in this chapter I'm thinking of how vulnerable vampires are. All you need are some incendiary grenades, a flamethrower, and a pile of blood bags to throw them into a mindless frenzy. Oh and a couple barrels of holy water (4 metric tonnes should suffice) for close-up work. A 6-man crew should be able to take out the Mansion in less than an hour. Dump the blood in one end, throw holy water at anyone who appears there, wait some more, then start walking the flamethrowers through there. When the masters bolt from the back entrance, they trigger the incendiaries. A couple guys walk behind the flamethrowers with buckets of holy water. And another couple walk the perimeter / back entrance with more holy water.
Well, true.  But Buffy of the show never did that, either.  The Scoobies only used extreme measures when the plot called for it, it seemed, like the blowing up the Mayor.  Most of the time, she cleaned out vampires with a stake.  She only took a sword when she went to face Angelus in Becoming.  Maybe some of that stuff would be hard to get on a regular basis?  I think we saw Angel's crew use a flamethrower, but even that was only a couple of times.  But I'm glad you're enjoying the story and thanks for reviewing!

Nice back story....well done.  You've laid the groundwork for their relationships with that, even Dru.  Spike is a bit ambiguous about her as one would expect.  He is still in denial about his emotions where Buffy is concerned but so many of his thoughts are telling.

Kathleen
Yeah, Spike is in denial about Buffy, but he doesn't know he's in denial.  :)    As well as a bit unsure about what to do about Dru, since Buffy is there to kill the vampires.  Thanks for reviewing!

LOL at Spike apartment hunting.  Knew he'd warm up when he thought about killing Angelus.  Just realized what a relief it is to skip over all the high school stuff and have Buffy be more or less an adult.
Hehe, well as I told someone else, I think this fic is going to have a season 4 feel, since that's kind of where all the characters are (college, the Magic Box, etc).  It just felt like the way to go.  Glad you liked the chapter, and thanks for reading!

Very nice backstory for Spike and the family.  This story has a very nice flow to it.  It might just be because I am tired, but I don't quite get why Angelus can't feed.  I am going to reread to see if I missed it.  Thanks for a good update.
Glad you liked it!  As for Angelus not being able to feed, it's been implied, though not said outright yet, that since he was part of a *completed properly* ritual to make Drusilla strong again, he was completely drained and basically put into a worse position than she was.  Thanks for reviewing!

Well, there is the high death rate.  :)    Glad you liked!

Loved it. Wonderful update with insight to Spike's life. SO glad you didn't have him stay in a crypt!
Can't wait for more!

Liz
Hehe, well it wouldn't make much sense for him to get a crypt, since we know he'd been paid thousands for guarding Buffy back there.  He's hardly homeless.   :)    Glad you liked, and thanks for reviewing!
