Another brilliant chapter. I'm hurting for Spike and Buffy as they are being ravaged by events far from their control. Thanks for updating!
Thanks Deb. You're right they are being buffeted by events right now and it's hard for them to think straight under the circumstances. All will be revealed eventually and I hope that neither character will lose the readers' sympathy, despite all the mistakes they make.

This was an exciting, vivid chapter. Dorn and Tarah's violent treatment set the stage, and although Giles was apologetic, I fear that the Aurelians are in for a world of hurt. Finn's cold, dismissive attitude paints the picture of the huge gap between the races, and poor Buffy is stuck straddling it.
The robots futile cleaning of the carnage was grisly and chilling, and you masterfully unfolded the silent, violent scene. The Master and Darla are certainly Aurelians, but who are their companions? I'm looking forward to finding out.

Yeah - the challenge said not to turn any of the good guys into bad but I think that if you took away Riley's feelings for Buffy you'd be left with a pretty inflexible attitude to 'hostiles'. Glad you liked (?) the grisly bits - even if it was mostly 'after the fact' and hope you aren't disappointed by my guest monsters. Thank you for reviewing Brunettepet.

Really hope they don't hurt Spike. Great update- you could really see how Buffy was torn between old alliances and beliefs and what she's learnt lately. Look forward to more.
He's tough - he can take it! Have another chapter ready (finally) so I hope you enjoy.

I love how Gilesand the others jump to conclusions about Spike's involvement. I hope Buffy refuses to gather some men.
Am trying to make everyones reactions to each situation as believable as possible and decided that Giles's reaction would be a valid one - that there was at least a possibility that Spike knew of the invasion beforehand. Don't see him as a villain - just a pragmatist. Buffy will be making mistakes for a while though. Thanks Annie.

I love the fact that no-one guessed the identity of my featured creatures. Our Spuffy lovers will be dancing around each other for a while yet, but I'll try and lay off the angst - hope so anyway. Thank you.

Oh yes and the Master as well I'm thinking! Poor Spike is going to be torn between his own sense of honor and dislike for Darla and the Master and his loyalty to his people! I can only hope Buffy sides with her family.
