FS, FCR and voting

Nov 10 2006 12:34 pm   #1Diabola

I've been looking for way to involve our readers more into the site for a while now, and one of the ideas I have come up with is letting you guys vote on which fics should be Featured Story and Featured Challenge Response.

The probelm with that is, that I like to use those features as an opportunity to pimp stories that I feel deserve more attention, or ones that have been around for a long time and that I think new readers might enjoy but wouldn't notice otherwise. If we choose those stories by vote, we'd likely end up with ones that are well known and popular already. They may be absolutely fabulous; but if everyone knows them anyway, what's the point?

What do you think?

Or maybe we could add a new box instead? Readers Choice or something like that. I could still do my thing with the other two, and you'd have one box where you alone decide the content.

Talk to me.

Maybe there can be 2 featured stories, one you pick and one the readers pick?

Unfortunately, we had big vampires in the next room, and I didn't think they'd wait while we had hot monkey sex. ~Cerulean Sins :: (Anita to Jean-Claude)“Is there anything your bloodline does that doesn’t involve getting naked?" ~Danse Macabre :: I’m dating three men, living with two more, and having occasional sex with two others. I like the adding a new box idea: Reader's Choice.

Another thing you could do is pick 3 or 4 fics that you feel need attention, give us a week or two to read them, then we could vote on them.

I like the reader's choice along with your pic as well.

I also agree with the two boxes idea...one featured fic as its always been, with the addition of a "reader's choice" on which we all vote :)

Me too! I think one you pick (because I like the idea of an older fic being trotted out for new readers who may not have read it before) and one that is a Readers' Choice.

I like the idea of a reader's choice fic as well as the normal featured fics.

Heartily agree here.  Like the idea of adding a reader's choice, but not replacing the mod-chosen feature.

reader's choice along with mod's choice sounds excellent.

Hi, Pfeifferpack here (not logged in).  I think an "editors pic" with your suggested fic and a "readers choice" pic would be great actually.

BTW, I am writing from a kiosk at a motel (my hubby and I are out of town this weekend) and can actually access the forum to respond!  My home computer acts weird with BSV.  When I try to select the choices dance around like drunken sailors and I have to keep trying to actually select "my account" or "Authors" or whatever.  I've tried to reply to a couple of forum threads but it won't give me the box to type into!!!!!!!!  I think it's just another of my continuing computer woes so don't think I am looking for you to "fix" the problem.  I love you guys enough to just keep trying *G*.
