Crazy Basement Hair

Random silly thought--what with his complete lack of hygiene, shouldn't Spike have had a crazy basement beard?  :)

*giggles* you'd think, wouldn't you. But do we ever see any vampires shaving?  Maybe they only grow hair on their heads?

In th ep where Angel tries to kill himself by waiting for the sunrise during season three there is a flashback of him when he's Angelus and he has the weirdest hairdo and moustache. Other than that, I can't think of the subject of vamps and facial hair ever coming up, and it's not like you could shave very well without a mirror. In fics I've read that vamp hair grows more slowly than a human's, but i don't think it's in canon.

Well, in "Angel: After the Fall," there are some comments that indicate vampires don't grow hair at all, but considering Angel DID manage to grow a mustache and Spike's hair obviously grew, I think it's safe to say that's a Brian Lynch screw-up. There's nothing in canon to indicate that the rate of vampire hair growth is any different from humans.

I think Spike's lack of a crazy basement beard boils down to JM preferring to be clean-shaven, lol.

Yeah, he wouldn't have looked nearly as stark and dramatic with a beard in "Lessons."  Plus, you wouldn't be able to see the cheekbones!

Speaking of which, there actually are a few pictures out there of JM with facial hair. he doesn't like it, though; says it itches. There's one con where he had a bit of a goatee, and the hairs were all different colors - it was quite a surprise! Spike always looks so extra smooth.

Yeah, I'm sure that there was no crazy basement beard due to James shaving.  But, I have to say, that I am forever grateful that he grew out the blond.  Crazy basement hair is the sexiest damned hair EVER!

A. Links?
B. I don't like facial hair, but I have a feeling that, on James, it'd be like everything else I don't usually like.  Bad on everyone, but James ;-)

WILLOW:  Oh! Sorry. The reflection thing that you don't have. Angel, how do you shave?  (Reptile Boy)

Angel takes off to avoid answering that question.

If we want her to be exactly she'll never be exactly I know the only really real Buffy is really Buffy and she's gone' who?

Uh oh!  Questions about facial hair could possibly lead to questions about sweating, and B.O., and going Number One and Number Two, and other vamp bodily functions!  Run away!  Run away!  LOLOLOL!

You know, I remembered that part last night when I read this thread, and I was gonna point it out.  But, apparently, I got distracted by the thought of James with facial hair.  It's frightening how often that happens to me :-P  That's why I don't listen to the Dresden audio books.  If I listened to him in the car, I'm afraid the sound of his voice would give me Jimmy Haze and cause an accident :-P

Well he doesn't look bad with the facial foliage there are some men too pretty to cover up and he is one.....of course some should be required by law to grow facial hair too LOL.

Kathleen

Ahhhh those vamp issues!  Bodily functions, blood flow, circulation, (bruising, erections topmost) among them....basically we just close our eyes, click our heals and don't explain!

LOL Kathleen. We have good friends, whom we've known for many, many years, the husband of which has had a beard as long as we've known them.  For whatever reason, he shaved it off several years ago.  #1 - I didn't recognize him and #2, when I did, I was just like OMG!  The man has NO chin. None . Nada. With the beard, he's good-looking; without it....  Fortunately, he grew it back very quickly. LOL  I suspect his wife may have had something to do with that.
