The Way Back Machine ListingPLEASE help develop this listing - post the links to writers who are no longer active but whose sites are still up - or links for the sites that are no longer active - also for sites that you think might soon become inactive. Since this list is not a new archive, only a WBM access resource, I think it is fine to lists the links.
With so many FF writers and archive sites being lost, this links list will be an important resource for everyone and for keeping the Buffyverse, Angelverse and all the Joss Whedon FF works accessible.

Here is the very first Spuffy site I ever found--many, many years ago. It was my introduction to the Jossverse fanfiction concept. If you want old, old stories that can't be found anywhere else, try Hilary's site. I'm just glad she hasn't taken it down. (Drop her a line and let her know you appreciate it being left up.) There are hundreds and hundreds of fics by hundreds of authors at Death-Marked Love:

I collected some GeoCities' links and Alternatives (haven't add the WaybackMachine links yet) @ cordykitten.livejournal.com/308627.html when the GeoCities Sites vanished. (Feel free to point me out to alternative links I've missed). Maybe that helps to make some more WBM links.
FYI: Jypzrose took her site down, got the message via her Yahoo Group today. http://www.jypzrose.com/

This is why I started this links resource for The Way Back Machine - so many writers have taken down their sites or will soon do so - it can't be helped, it's natural for creative people to move forward to new projects and interests -
Does anyone know status of the Writer's Guild?

Thankyou for the Kari Mouke link - she is a very popular Buffyverse writer that has moved on to other interests - What a pity that her series will not be completed.

The only unfinished piece I can think of was Deviant Paths, which happens to be one of my favorites of her works.

This one has some of the stories not included on the other "Two Janes" page. Fair warning, not all the stories have been archived w/ the Wayback Machine, so not all are available. Also, the old bloodshedverse archive has a few Kari Mouke fics not listed on either of the links already provided by myself or LisFayte. You can find those stories (& other KM fics you might be missing here:

Tiny sample -
The opening of "Reality Bends to Desire"
At night, when the world is sleeping -- that is, when that part of the world which does not have evil and the destruction of goodness staining its soul is sleeping -- he roams the hallways of Wolfram and Hart, keeping his solitary watch. He isn’t really sure just who or what he is watching, but at least, he tells himself several times an hour, it’s better than burning in Hell.

You know, I think it's wonderful that Kari is so well-remembered and appreciated. However, as someone who for most of my life as a ff writer had to keep it very separate from my RL for work-related reasons, I'm entirely sympathetic to someone who has pulled all her stories down. If I remember correctly, Kari's reason was also work-related. She was going to work as an elementary school teacher if I'm remembering it right. Anyway, whatever her reason for wanting them removed, I think we should honor it. Authors have different reasons for pulling things down: wanting to or becoming published authors of original fic who do not want their early attempts being viewed by new readers; having taken some of their fan fic stories and reworked them into something publishable - which they wouldn't be if there were a facisimle available for free on the web; to having taken a new job where being "outed" as a writer of fan fic (or, let's face it, vampire porn) could be an excuse for being fired, to just having improved so much to the point that they'd rather not have their early works out there. Granted, there is never really anything that is actually gone from the web. But just because we CAN find something, doesn't mean we SHOULD. Just something for everyone to think about when you're trying really hard to find something the creator of it has taken great pains to hide.

About a decade ago I remember reading--two or three times, at least--a fine BtVS site that had two finished novella arcs by its site owner/author, and an incomplete third. As I recall, there were the usual tribulations where Spike wasn't trusted by Buffy or the Scoobies, while Darla and Dracula schemed to bring back the Master. They actually got Heinrich Nest, at first; and in some fine plotting, Nest proved to be a vampire hunter who was casting a spell to destroy them all before a vampire (Darla, I think), drank him down, and the Master showed up. She also nearly killed Giles, at the end.
Does any of this sound familiar? I'm thinking that with the advent oif Wayback, I'd like to find it again, but that's impossible to do without knowing what I'm looking for.
Lucky for all the Spuff and FF fans, there are some outstanding new writers active today and there are the wonderful earlier writers, like slaymesoftly, who continue to produce outstanding works for their readers to enjoy.
Even after all these years, I still love to read Spuffy and to create graphics and art based on the Buffyverse.
A lot of people move on, but I think it's a shame when good work is lost to view. Just my opinion, mind. Some sites are gone now, and the WBM does us a service by making it available, again. If I could, I'd ask for permission from a given writer to read their work using the Machine, but often the addresses are gone.

No question, there. I've just got an archivist's mind (or heart) set. When I read, or view, or hear something I really enjoy, I'd like it to be preserved for others to derive the same pleasure.

This is a great resource for all the Spuffy readers and authors - it would be great if we could keep it going and updated.
Especially looking for Just Rewards and any of the other large archive sites - with the loss of Sinister-Attraction recently, it's just another reminder that so many of the earlier works continued to be lost.
Please Help update our list.

I'm not sure how the Wayback Machine works. If it has to have a working link, and the archive has closed, I don't know how it could provide anything useful? Does it go into some internet limbo and find things that no longer have a home?

I don't really know all the ins and outs - I read some of the technical info but frankly, it's all pretty much beyond me as I know zero about writing code. All I know is that sometimes I can read with the link I use and other time Nothing. For instance the Just Rewards site, I am pretty sure you were able to read stories there, now the last time I tried using it - nada. I know that if one of those Domain Sellers can get the original domain name it effects what and how TWBM can access the original sites - Maybe one of our members who really knows how TWBM works could give us info on best way to get access to the early sites. I keep coming across those "looking for a story" that sends people to Sinister Attraction but the site is no longer active.
Just the other night I ran across this link to Sinister Attraction looking to see if there was any updated info - I've not tried the links, but ones I did a quick check on seem to work -

Oh, that's great. I hope it works. It's hard to find whole sites once the owner has stopped paying for them and there are no mods.
