I read a Buffy The Vampire Slayer fanfiction from what i can remember
1 Buffy wakes up she in the middle of a war field and i totally forget how she gets there.
2It takes place during one of the world wars and soldier helps her to a trench where she meets other soldiers
3 she ends up wandering around and hears noises and sees down the street Spkie but at the time is William with Drusilla, Darla and Angel
4 during the rest of the story she realizes shes in the body of her great grandmother who happens to be a slayer and is on a secret mission after many deaths of soldiers
5 shes a nurse that drives soldiers to different med camps and does so with another nurse who is her grandmothers friend
6 she pretends to be her grandmother but after a while she tells the other nurse and a doctor that she is buffy and shes from the future
7 She meets Spike in the first chapter but he is wiliiam the bloody.
8 Spike hates her at the start and tries to kill her but becomes kinda obsessed with her and even r***es a girl who looks similar to what buffy looks like in her granmothers body.
9 Its not very long but Drusila and i think Darla are in it but not main characters and there is a part where buffy drives a tank with spike and she dies and wakes up in the present and Spike remembers her from the past and thats kinda how it ends. I dont remember everything but if any of this sounds familiar please let me know

Thank you so much for the reply I’ll check out your recommendations, I remember reading it on fanfiction.net I think around September of this year but I think it was posted around the very early 2000’s so it’s pretty old. I just wish I saved it after reading 
Update: so I checked those websites and wasn’t able to find the story but thank you for letting me know about them

OMG!!! OMG!!! I found it finally, it feels like my head is going to explode!! It took me forever to find…. I had to comb through 3,954 stories twice lol I even looked at it multiple times and then skipped it cause it wasn’t familiar ugh the days I could have saved lol I want to thank you again for replying it gave me motivation to keep looking
