Ah, this Giles is infinately more sensible than the canon would allow.
Poor Spike; if he were human, his alcoholism would've left him brain-damaged long ago.

Ha! It's raining here right while I'm writing! LOVE THE CHAPTER! Is there a chance for Buffy to go out, see Spike, be all worried about him and all that?! Yeah, I know I want a lot but I'm a sucker for hard storylines and unbelivable happy endings!
Heh... I was going for more of a "ships passing in the night" motif, where they were so close, and feeling much the same, and yet never realized it. Thanks for the review!

Great Update - as wrong as Spike was to have sex with Buffy, I can't help feeling sorry for him - what a "worst self-enemy" he can be. Glad that Buffy finally spoke to Giles about everything - and was a pleasant surprise to see that Giles can see some good coming from Spike in all this.

Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I do think it's okay to feel sorry for Spike - what he did was wrong, but he obviously regrets hurting her, and we've seen much worse than that in this fic, from people with souls.

Good chapter - everything fit together so beautifully - with the rain a grey wash over everything, running it all together.
I (think I) really understood Buffy's reaction when she met Spike. It seems to me that she wasn't really rejecting him - more like she couldn't deal with him, on top of everything else from the day. When you're that exhausted adn overwhelmed, even somebody you'd normally WANT to see isn't particularly a welcome sight on your doorstep. Add having just had a fight with said someone to the mix and being told to go home seems pretty tame.
I hope DC was good & you have fun on vacation.

You're definitely right - I don't think Buffy's quite ready to forgive Spike, but if he'd picked a different time to approach her, I'm sure he'd have gotten a better reaction from Buffy (and perhaps one that wouldn't send him on a spiral of depression and drinking). Thanks for the review!

So I was going to allow myself to be detured by the rape warning, but I happend to see some of the less than plesant reviews that had been left and they made me so mad that I felt I had to read. Boy, am I glad I did! It's dead brillant! Seriously, I read 21 chapters in a day (if only I could finish my school reading that fast ^_^;)!
