Hi! You started this story a long time ago, but I just got a chance to start it today. (Isn't it nice to know you have new readers springing up all the time?) Xander and Buffy? Is that something from the comics or did you make it up? (I don't read the comics.) Either way it is an interesting twist, and I'm curious to see how if all plays out.

Xander and Buffy? My fic is inspired by a dream Buffy had in the second issue. In the dream, Buffy wanted to have sex with Xander, she took his hand and pulled him to her room while he objected, "I think it's a bad idea, Buffy." Buffy kissed him and his head flew out of his body. Buffy's eyes went wide with fear, "I'm afraid of the dark," she exclaimed. "Buffy, you are the dark," Xander's head said from its place on the floor.
The point of the dream seems to be that Buffy does have feelings for Xander but is afraid of hurting him, that's why she doesn't tell him about her feelings until #31 when she loses her powers and becomes a normal girl, that's when she thinks she can't hurt him and make him leave like the others. But Xander rejects her, because he's already in love with Dawn.

Nice chapter. I hope someone kills Amy.
I guess she wants to kill Willow or torture her or something. She was always so jelious.
I love your story. I haven't read the comics but I read the stuff on the interenet about them. I'm guessing that Willow was away for a while on some magical retreat and got all powerful, and can now fly. And is almost immortal.
I love the new spike aswell
I can uNderstand why Buffy can't really bond with her child, becuase she has a higher calling and always will have. When you're a mum your highest calling should be your child, but Buffy can't let that happen becuase of her slayer duties. So she's afraid if she gets too close to the baby she'll want to give everything up.
I can't wait to see what Willow has to say about Xander and Buffy having a baby together, as she doesn't know yet. oh you have to make her reaction classic. LOL

What a great idea for a new era story - excellent start - this feels like it will be one terrific work -

Aw, I'm so happy to see you reading my fic. :) I've never read a Spuffy fic with this idea and setting it in S8 is making it more challenging and interesting.
The idea popped in my head since #2 when Buffy told Xander in her dream before leading him to her room to have sex, "I'll be gentle this time." All fans had predicted that Buffy and Xander already had sex before.

Buffy & Xander sleeping together for drunken 'comfort sex' is an icky but believable 'what if' situation, but I can't see Spike accepting it very easily. He's going to be hurt and angry... and can you honestly see Spike acting the 'daddy' to Xander's child? While Xander's still around? He's not Buffy's lapdog any more, in LA he proved he could live independently of Buffy and was (eventually) accepted as part of a team. He became 'his own man'. You're going to have to do something very special to bring this to a truly believable Spuffy conclusion...
Why would Spike act like the baby's father? The baby already has a father, Xander is the father.
It's a diffecult situation, but that's what makes it fun, right? And you're right, Spike has changed, which is the point of the story. Spike and Buffy aren't the same people they used to be.

I absolutely love this so far! I've always had a weakness for stories that start out with Spike or Buffy in some form of a relationship with Xander, and it ultimately becoming Spuffy (I hope :) ) and this seems really promising! I'm not usually a fan of babyfics, but this one's piqued my interest. Can't wait for more!

Don't keep up with the comic.. liked Xander year 1 - turned him into a whimp..

Oh hell no, I'm so not reading a fic where Spike plays stepfather to XANDER'S child. This is a SPIKE & BUFFY archive!
Are you also planning on having Spike lived as a monk these past years and immediately jumping at the "privilege" to become Buffy's loyal lap dog once again?
How about never even caring that Buffy had played "who's the latest slut" with the Immortal and that Buffy's "finds" him only after she's been knocked up by the hippocritical ass that "fangless" has always hated.
It's one thing for Spike to re-enter into a relationship with an impregnated Buffy and help raise the child of a man who's out of the picture, but playing second fiddle to XANDER!? who will always be in the picture and always have "real father" rights for the child of the woman Spike loves. Do you hate Spike or something?

I hope you understand that such a promise means more than: Spike yells and is angry for a couple paragraphs and then HE goes to Buffy, apologises for his 'outrageous' outburst and asks Buffy to forgive him since he was being the "bad guy" by not just forgiving and forgetting.

LOL! First of all, Spike is one of my favorite characters, I love him to death. Secondly, Spike in this fic isn't the same Spike we know in Sunnydale. He'd gone through a lot and changed -which brings us to the title "Strangers". Both Buffy and Spike had changed since Sunnydale, both had gone through so many experiences that changed them. They're not the same people, and that doesn't necessarily mean a good thing for them. I hope you stick around and read the rest, hopefully I won't disappoint you.
