But...if he broke the coffin lid when he tossed it against the wall, how did he sit on it later, when he's talking to Buffy about the 3 Spikes?

"So, why's the Watcher's Council suddenly interested in ol' Spike?" he asks. He takes a step back and leans casually against another sarcophagus, then fishes in his pockets for his cigarettes.

Different sarcophagus. There's at least two in his crypt. (Now, how they magically put that slab back together again for the next episode... that's beyond me.)

wow.  this is my favorite buffy fic right now.  everyone is so themselves, there's a great mix of canon and imagination.  i love it.
Thanks. :) I try.

Fantastic story.  Great characterizations all around.  Everyone feels like themselves, and there's no character assassination or lionization going on.  Both are poison pills for me, and so many authors can't resist.  You write everyone honestly.  I love the pacing.  Plenty going on, but not rushed at all.  First rate work.  Keep it coming.
Thank you, very much. That's a lovely compliment. I'm not fond of characters who slip out of character just to facilitate plot. I'd rather take the extra time to develop a character believably than try to rush it just so I can get to the "good" bits. Some characters are harder for me to write than others (I struggle with Xander in particular, and Buffy--which makes writing her POV pretty challenging), but that's part of why I do it. The challenge is half the fun.

Well, that and telling a kick ass (hopefully) story.
