Read the last 7 chapters (I was out of town last week).  Wow.  I really love that Xander is helping.  It's nice to have him portrayed as the friend instead of a jerk.  Poor Spike.  This is just so good.
I have to admit, Xander makes a useful stock character when one needs somebody to be a jerk - but the friend stuff is in there too and I wanted to portray that.  This is my first foray into Buffy fandom, so I've been surprised at the response I've gotten just from having Xander grow up and be a good guy for a change. :)

Really glad you're enjoying!  I am such a pathetic review ho.... I love hearing from you all.

I'm so relieved the spell has  finally been broken, What a ride, I've run the full gamut of emotion here. I can't believe how much I like Xander in this story. I think if he'd been like this in the series, Buffy might have fallen for him. As it is, it's right that he's still grieving for Anya, cos it's the least she deserved. But I hope he does hit it off with the helpful witch. As usual brilliant descriptive writing, can't wait for more.

<evil> ...What makes you think the spell has been broken? </evil>

I agree with you about Xander and I've had some readers express concern, early on, over whether this was really a Spuffy fic or not. :)  But I'm giong to go with, normal couldn't keep up with her and this version of Xander would have gotten a few months but they still would've broken up.  They'd remain friends, though. :)

And yeah, it probably won't s how up in the story but Cathy, the witch who made their tracking talisman, is totally into him.

Yikes, that was gruesome - poor Spike.  Xander did brilliantly.
Gruesome?!  Nahhh... pitiful and in need of much comfort and lovin'.  TOTALLY different. :)
