Without all the bad things that happened with Angel I think she WOULD have liked Spike right off (or at least when he wasn't trying to kill her *G*). k

That part confuses... IF he wants the chip out? And if he's planning on killing the Slayer why isn't he getting the chip out first? If someone handcuffed you so you could never fight back if someone picked on you, and you came across alot of money you wouldn't want those handcuffs removed?
I don't understand your reasoning behind him waiting to get the chip out at all. Doens't make any sense.

This was intentional as a freudian slip. Spike knows the only reason he's allowed close at all is the security the group feel because of the chip....he likes being close to Buffy and his "plans" are mostly all talk to himself (as on the show after he realized he cared for her).
Remember when he found out (in S6) that the chip still worked on humans except Buffy? His reaction, "Nothing wrong with me, must be her" implied that in his subconscious the chip functioning was "right" in some way. Naturally he doesn't want the pain or the lack of ability to fight a human but it has become his entre' to Buffy's world and that is important to him. He knows that without the chip the group, at least, would insist on his dusting (even with the soul Giles felt that way in S7 because the FE was making him kill and without a chip he was a danger).
Yes, he wants it gone but he also doesn't want to be driven from her company, not deep down.
None of this is conscious.
