Good thing that Spike was at least honest with Giles...Gosh,that piece of watcher can be a real pain in the arse when the things aren't going in his way! Don't like Giles' messing everything up by spilling every bit of information he's got -not to Buffy,or anyone else in that matter.I fear that he might take side with Xander and Angel. Those three just have to get just one thing through their ever the thickest skulls that Buffy is a person on her own! Just how hard can it be to open thein eyes and admit the obvious fact!
As you see,i am so very excited about the rest of this fic,i love it:)
So glad you liked this.  Yes, Giles means well at least at this stage.  Spike IS different from all that Giles believes about vampires but he will have to see for himself in time.  Thank you.  k

U know what they say 'honesty is the best policy'. but they also say that truth does more damage than lies.
True! Just answer honestly the next time a friend asks "does this make me look fat?"!

I am glad that Spike told Giles. He never was good at lying. he always gave himself away. I hope that Giles really takes the time to listen and learn and give Spike a chance. Good chapter.
Thank you! Yes Giles before he lost Jenny was a different guy. K

"But deep down he knew he had never been that lucky."--And that means we may be entering into some conflict. My... I just love that he had a serious heart to heart with both Angel and Giles. Kinda hope Angel does the right thing with Dru. Really loved this chapter.
Thank you....yup a bit of a speedbump on the road to love. K

I love what Spike said about Dru. That was always one point that rankled me about Angel. I figure he should either do right by Dru or stake her and put her out of her misery. He hasn't attempted either.
ITA! Angel said Dru was the one thing he did that was the worst of all and yet he never did a thing for her! If he felt guilty he should have attended to his mess. The poor girl was driven mad before being turned so she didn't really even have a "choice" about the turning...if any vamp was innocent of bloodshed it was Dru. Even a staking would have been a mercy. K

Great idea for Spike to come clean to Giles on his own terms before getting caught by accident. Hope he will do the same with Buffy. It might have been a good idea to tell Angel about the curse though. Spike definitely wouldn't like Angelus coming around this time.
ANd another reader that has read my mind.....the next chapter will be back from my Beta and posted some time today....Spike isn't through with the Angel issues quite yet! Thanks K

This was an exceptional chapter. You got Spike and Giles pegged just right. I am really loving this.
Thank you! k

But deep down he knew he had never been that lucky. That line sounds so ominous! I'm not going to have anymore fingernails left. LOL Great chp and I can't wait for more!
Don't panic....this story is not en epic saga where too much angst would have a chance LOL. Another chapter is due from my Beta and likely to post later today. Thanks K

Very good and interresting chapter. Update soon please. I have a question though, if Spike has travelled to the past, there should be another Spike in this timeframe. Or not? Just wondering...
Time travel is always tricky and I really don't have an answer. I'm playing it like he sort of replaced the one in S1 by going back. Quantum physics (String theory variety) would say he created an alternate universe in changing timeperiods but I don't know how it would explain it...possibly SPike's essence entering his S1 body (but then the chip wouldn't have returned with him and I wanted it, at least at first...so poetic license LOL). THanks K

I really like how Spike's gotten his rocks back. I just got one thing - the chip supposedly works by causing blinding pain, which, by the way, is total crap considering there are no pain receptors in the brain itself like there are in the rest of the body (Biology/Science major here). Anyway, pain is how the body informs the brain that damage has been or is being incurred (which again brain damage isn't felt like that, it's more dizziness and losses of control - actual headaches and migraines are results of things like sensory overload, pressure on the brain or chemical imbalences). Even keeping with the screwed up fiction, since the gem causes Spike to be invincible and immediately and fully heal any and all damage, wouldn't the gem negate the chip's effects just like stakes to the heart don't even phase Spike? Along those lines, Spike could get the chip out and not need to worry about any possible brain damage cause it would be immediately fixed. Don't even get me started on the fact that the microchip would never be cost effective for use and could never house a power source powerful enough to have those effects or large enough to last like it did in the show. Common sense and a broad range of knowlege absolutely suck when I keep running into nonsense like this on TV cause it just get so freaking annoying - these people get paid craploads of cash to write these things and they can't take an hour or so to talk to someone in these fields and come up with something at least plausible or, in this case, at least they could do is say that Spike was cursed or something instead of promoting misinformation that, first glance, seems to be based on fact. Yes, I realize I'm bitching but I've run into WAY too many people, who wrongly believe these kind of things cause it was portrayed as just another everyday fact on TV. Would you like the future brain surgeons and scientists you run into learn the fact right off or learn the fiction first and then have to be corrected and taught the fact, hoping they never get the two mixed up? Scary thought isn't it?
Aha, you've read my mind! Keep in mind that Spike hasn't tried to "hurt a human" since he first got back to 1997! Now he has the Gem and hasn't put it to the test....I should have the next chapter back from my Beta later today and GUESS WHAT? I address that very issue *G* Great minds think alike LOL K

Great chapter. Poor spike doesnt believe in things working out does he.
Even WIlliam hasn't had the best of luck in love....he's still game to try though. Thanks K

fantastic chapter!! I loved the way spike just threw it out there for Giles. I just love this fic!!
THank you, hon. Proactive SPike is a joy and the one in season 4 still had the confidence to chance it. Thanks K

Oh, yay! An update. ^_^ Like how Spike came clean with Giles; hopefully the watcher won't "tow the party line" and learn to think and act a bit for himself. *fingers crossed* It'll be interesting to see what Angel is going to do with Dru, if he'll help her at all or wallow in his own guilt.
Thanks! I do think that Giles at this time period was more flexible than he was after the betrayal of Angel/Angelus. I think Jenny being killed really preyed on him. He felt that he had been too accepting of Angel and not cautious enough. This Giles hasn't reached that place though, he's still like the one that gave Angel the benefit of a doubt. As for Angel........ K
