I'm glad you just wrote a new story. It gave me a chance to look back at the old ones and discover I'd missed reading this one! What a gem it is. I'm so glad I found it! Good writing and nice sense of humor, noble Spike, and lots of action. How nice to see Jenny Calendar in your story. It was wonderful to be reminded of the 1st season and how open and innocent Buffy was before Angelus embittered her. And thanks to your writing, she gets to stay that way! Super plot, great characterizations, and a fabulous epilogue showing how everyone's lives turned out.
Thank you so much! The funny offshoot for me in writing this one was realizing just how contrived Bangel was. Angel and Buffy's "romance" came from nowhere in S1. One week she was looking for a human boyfriend (and hurting Angel with her lack of interest) and next professing love for Angel? S2 Bangel picked up on that but gave us Angelus almost immediately. It really opened my eyes to the lack of substance in that pairing.
I liked having Buffy get a chance with the better vampire (at least for her) without all the hardening of her heart that came after Angel/Angelus and the others that compounded the issue. With her heart free she would have seen his value and taken that chance.

Thanks! It was a challenge to put Spike into season1 and make it work, glad it did. You know in researching the episodes I was struck at how out of the blue Buffy and Angel were as a love match....Spike worked much better even then! Thank you again.

Very beautiful story, and it ended very nicely. I liked your epilogue into the future for them. To see what was the same and what was different, was nice. They seem to have all had much happier lives. Glad for that.
Thanks. I think they were all badly effected by the fall out from Angelus and would have been much happier if that hadn't happened. Even though Buffy had the worst of it, Giles and the scoobies were changed too. K

That was a truly beautiful ending! If only that could have been the way it really happened, but then again, w/out all the angst and issues, would we all really haved viewed in week after week? I loved the story and can't wait to see what you come up w/next!
