Wondeful chapter. I really like it that you have Buffy acknowledging that she hurt Spike far more than he ever hurt her. And I'm glad to see that she understands that Anya was not only not to blame for what happened, but was the only really innocent party in the whole fiasco. Go mature Buffy! Can't wait to read more.

Calling Anya really is the best idea. Can Anya teleport him to the house? She has all her powers again. That would probably be a lot more comfortable for him than a car ride.

There's no getting around it...Spike is going to be Spike. Broken or not, comforting those he loves is as basic a need as blood. Thank goodness for that. :)

One of the most intriguing stories I have ever read (and I have read my fair share of stories by now) Excellent and so original. Can`t wait to see if Spike will be his same old and who the bastard that has hurt Spike is.I just love the way you have written the torturer,you get such symphaty for Spike. You know, I was recently getting a little frustrated trying to weed through all of the fics that are out there to find ones (that I hadn't already read) that are fresh and intriguing. Then you started "Because He Needs Me," and it was DreamsofSpike to the rescue!

This story rocks, very powerful. Buffy seeing her mistakes -- and poor damaged Spike. It's so moving and exciting. Brilliant.

The story is getting even better with each new chapter. Spike trying to give Buffy comfort even in his wounded shape is really heartbreaking. Keep up the exellent work, and please don't make us wait long for new chapters though it is holiday in US. And happy thanksgiving.

Anya is a great choice. Her last moments with Spike were about comfort and compassion so she would not want Spike to suffer.

I am asuming all the S6 stuff less Seeing Red Buffy/Spike storyline took place since Willow isn't around.
That means that Anya is a vengeance demon again? Could be helpful unless the evil schmuck who tortured Spike turns out to be Xander.....if it's Riley *G*.....woo hoo. I'm thinking he'd make a fine vampire for Buffy to legitately dust after punishing LOL.

Poor Spike not having a clue of what is wanted and it is so sad that even if he DID remember Buffy fully he'd have reason to wonder if she would hurt him further at this point. Gonna need lots of TLC!!!

You are just breaking my heart with Spike in this. How confused he is about what is expected of him and his willingness to do whatever it is if he only knew. And trying to comfort Buffy when he senses she is upset even though he is struggling with his own reality. I feel Buffy's conflict about wanting to hug him but fear it would cause more pain then comfort. I am so glad she called Anya instead of any of the other options especially Xander. Interesting that Anya wanted to be kept aware of any major upsets to the group even though she doesn't feel like rejoining the scoobies yet.
