Wow, what a powerful, emotional beginning. And you are right to warn us that this is a dark story; I can't wait to see where you are taking this plot!

poor Buffy - what a sad beginning for her. I keep having visions of the craft and the back surgery there. What a horrible fate for te sun worshiping girl Buffy was!

OMG, I had tears in my eyes! I can’t believe I’ve only just got around to reading this fic now! The description from Xander’s point of view was a fantastic opener and really set the scene well. The ordeal Buffy went through at the hospital was horrible. I’m hoping more about why she isn’t healing despite her Slayer-powers is explained in further chapters.

I just have to say how much I love this story! Very well written, and it has a great premise. This fic may be angsty and dark, but the story has me intrigued. Buffy's insecurities and the whole story with how she sustained her burns is just heartwrenching, and the characterization of your 'big bad', pre-soul, unchipped Spike is spot on. (Oh, and did I mention the smut is HOT?!) Anyway, I'm done gushing now. Great job, and can't wait to read more!
Thanks!! I've never really written an "evil" Spike before, so I was somewhat nervous of going too far in either direction, there - making him too evil or too good. Buffy being insecure about her body, and it affecting her whole demeanor has been something I've wanted to write for a while now, and the smut had to follow of course :)

An amazing and great start. I have so many questions? What happened to the Incinerato Demon in the first chapter? What has happened to the scooby gang? Where is Giles? Will they make an appearance in later chapters. So many questions...need answers!

OW!! What a miserable existence for the Slayer. I've had 3rd degree burns and still have scars and will never forget. I hope some angel (not Angelus) will come along and help her heal. More please.

Nice start. I like the flow, and Buffy's POV is well done. I'm curious to see where you take this.
