OK, I just had my second read-through. I just don't want to miss anything!!! I love how Buffy is trying SO HARD to do the right thing. She might make mistakes, but she fixes them when she figures it out. She is thinking things out, trying to be sure she does what Spike needs.
I just thought of something interesting - I'm sure his captor never said "please" to him, and he had that word bouncing in his head for quite a while. So - he DOES seem to remember some language, even though he can't speak at the moment. I think that's encouraging.
I'm trying to decide if you're more likely to have Spike remember his previous life, or start off new from the time of his injuries. Of course, I have no idea which you'll do - heck, I can't even figure out "whodunnit," and he's right under out noses!
Your speedy updates are the only thing keeping me from TOTALLY obsessing over this story...don't stop...

Great chapter. I liked seeing him say his name in nothing but defiance at her saying he didn't know his name, that was a good part! I hope Giles keeps his cool, and goes easy on them all. I am sure he will, he always did have compasion in him.

Oh, I just knew he'd show up in surprise. Anya needed to warn Buffy that she called him. The situation needed to be explained before he came to the house.

Excellent update. He's making so much progress. But, I gotta ask. You've written Giles to be an incredibly narrow-minded, arrogant fool before, are you gonna write him that way this time? I'll love whatever you decide to do (obviously) but, it would be kinda nice to see sympathetic, open-minded Giles, because I know he has it in him, and I really like that part of his character. That's my vote anyway. Can't wait to see the next update.

Giles came! Things are getting even more interesting, and Buffy is having unwanted feelings, serves her well for playing hot&cold with Spike for so long. I wonder what will happen when Angel comes to check Spike too. And of course Anya? Is there a possibility for Anya/Giles? Would be nice...

Oh yeah...another good guy in the mix (or I hope so anyway). At least Giles was in England and not a suspect and I doubt at this point in the universe that he'd be podGiles. Glad Buffy is putting Spike's needs first thought. It's about time!

also awesome. are we certain that Giles isn't the baddy? Not that he should be, but at the mo it's only a two way battle, and extra suspects is always fun. Unless he actually is the baddy, in which case, whoops!
