The very begrudging help that Giles is offering here is very much in character. He's always been very protective of Buffy and has always had a blind spot where Spike is concerned. I think his experiences with Angel have always colored his perception of Spike, so it's not surprising that he is only offering to help because Buffy stood up to him and he knows that he will alienate her if he refuses to help at all. I hope that his interactions with this wounded, vulnerable Spike will help to change his attitude. Can't wait to see where you go with this.

Giles just better find a way to help or get out of the way. Spike is going to need all of the help he can get and the imagry of his reaction to Giles and his rant was awesome. I think more of the slayer is making her presence known when it comes to Spike and I am loving every bit of it.

I'm glad that Giles is agreeing to help Buffy as much as he feels able to. I was horrified at how much of his words paralleled what Spike's torturer had said to him in the past. it was clear he was having a lot of flashbacks to that time, and I was glad Buffy was able to comfort him. He seems to believe her when she says she won't hurt him, or let someone else hurt him, quicker than he had before

Did he have to come in with guns ablazing, but so proud of Buffy to stand up for him to Giles. He really is her priority. Great read, thanks.

bad giles scaring the crap outta spike. at least HE listened to buffy finally. was 90% sure before that it was not giles now i'm 100% that its not giles or angel so at this point i have to say xander with a small possability of riley. lol of course with my luck at guessing it will be willow :)

I so hope that Giles comes to actually SEE Spike for himself not the cardboard monster the Council say all vampires are. I want Giles to want to help Spike for HIM, but am glad he will help for Buffy's sake for now.

I so love this story. I keep checking for your frequent updates and get excited when they show up.

Poor Spike being hit with all those terrible verbal stakings again and a wall of hatred....he SO doesn't deserve that, especially from any of the Scoobies. After he spent the summer when Buffy was dead by helping them out and saving their lives they have NO reason to treat him with anything less than acceptance and respect IMHO.

Yeh, Giles is on board and speakingly lovingly with concern as any parent figure would about those in a child's life. Now bring on more clues as to who the dirtbag is that did this to Spike. At least give Buffy a clue. That guy needs to squirm.

I'm so glad Buffy gave Giles a reminder of what Spike did to *help* her. At least he didn't lecture her about growing up- and then leave her.

Eventhough Giles is willing to help for Buffy's sake, I'm not sure that I would want his help if I were in the same position as Buffy. Giles is always very level headed, but when it comes to Buffy, he always seems to take a temporary leave of his senses. He becomes manipulative, irrational, and overprotective to the point of contolling. Granted, Buffy does have "bleeding tragic taste in men," but that's no excuse to become Caveman Giles. In terms of your writing, well done at keeping Giles completely in character :-)

Not sure that this makes me suspect Giles as the culprit. Spike seems to be coherent enough at this point to at least indicate to Buffy that Giles is his abuser. Giles is completely capable of torturing Spike, but this time Giles is just probably thinking, "Shoot him in the head? Bloody brilliant! Why didn't I think of that?"

Good Giles! I want to give him a cookie for not being an ass! Buffy needs to give /spike some of her blood and he would heal a whole lot quicker than he is now.

Finally she's articulate and truthful *and* in the right. Looks like Buffy has finally grown up.

Good chapter -- Giles only just redeemed himself at the last minute, though! It never sat well with me how they all got on with Spike while Buffy was dead but that was forgotten the minute she was back.

so Giles is more or less on the team, can be helpful. I still wonder what will happen when Angel comes back to house and how will he react to others' behavior towards Spike.

Oh my God, poor Spike. I got so pissed when Giles spoke angrily to Spike, and at the same time I felt so sorry for Spike.

Damn it! Giles needs to use that massive brain of his sometimes. Glad Buffy stood up to him and quickly. The butthead certainly needs some sense smacked into him.
At least he's willing to support Buffy's decision regarding Spike. Giles is still a butthead though.....

Spotted the update at SR first, so my review is there.

Very good to see Buffy's priorities where they should be, for a change.

At least this Giles is honest - or seems that way, even if he isn't particularly helpful.

In some ways, I'm so angry that that scene happened, but on the other hand, I'm glad that Spike was able to see that Buffy would stick up for him and would defend him. And that talking-to she gave Giles was briliant.
