Buffy says that she doesn't want to hurt a friend again, so she has to prove that Xander is guilty for herself. Does she not realize that she's hurting Spike--AGAIN--by trying to trap Xander? Oh, silly me. Of course, Buffy wouldn't think about Spike's feelings :P

Oh for crying out loud, now Spike's locked alone in the room with him. Someone please kick that door down and rescue him. And where was the vamp hearing when he was threatening to shoort everybody? Angel couldn't have heard that and attacked him? I swear if he gets hurt because of Buffy's need for this idiotic plan I'm sure she is going to ahve a handful of people ready to do her harm for not listening when they tried to get her to change her mind. How could she not have noticed his terror downstairs?

hm. It occurrs to me that you didn't mention Angel's presence in the living room...so I'm hoping he's in Dawn's room or something. He can't be in Buffy's room, because she went upstairs to be alone with Spike, and Angel didn't have time to get in position before Xander shoed up. I guess he could be outside the bedroom window, with a camcorder!

Wow, very tense. Please don't make us wait too long for the next update. I'm actually kinda woozy with anticipation. I really hope Buffy has a grand plan for hearing him spout this crap. Is Angel able to hear him, and if so, how is he standing still and just letting Xander say those things? I also hope that Buffy hasn't permanently damaged Spike's incredibly fragile sense of safety by insisting on going through with this plan. Can't wait for more.

OK Buffy, what's the plan? You've got Xander up there, he's threatened everyone in the house. What is the plan to "prove" to everyone that Xander is evil? nobody can see into that room. Only Angel has a possiblibty of hearing what is going on. He's already convinced, and why would people believe what he said he heard, when they wouldn't believe what Spike said Xander did? Recording equipment, maybe?
Come on - time to come to the rescue!

Is Buffy or anyone paying attention?! Why put Spike in this situation without some method of control? Tape recorder? Peeking around a corner? What was the plan! I'm quaking in fear for Spike!

I'll be honest...anti-climatic to me.

I know, I know. Ending it here, like this, is perfect story telling. It builds tension, a need to go on.

Problem is, you've pulled this rabbit out of your hate so many times, its no longer exciting for me.

I knew before I even clicked on the chapter you would end it like this. Just as I know your next three chapters will break down like this:

-A chapter about Xander mocking Spike, hurting him. Spike (because you always write him as a weakling that even Andrew could beat up) will do nothing (luckily for you, in this story, it works. But its getting played out). The chapter has a 50% chance of ending with someone, most likely Buffy, maybe Angel, kicking the door down and saying something snappy. If not, then it will be extended to two chapters, with that being the ending of the second.

-A chapter of Buffy in the livingroom, worrying, and thinking things off. She will doubt what she is hearing, freeze up, and finally go, "Oh, time to save Spike!"

-A chapter where it looks like Buffywill save Spike, Xander pulls out a gun, gives a speech about why he is doing what he is doing(for the good of Buffy) and ends with a cliffhanger.

Now, I only say these things because, if I am right (I hope not),then I hope you begin thinking about ways you might break from your mold. One person said including Willow working with Xander, which would be a neat twist. I have been saying for a long time that Angel needs to kidnap Spike right after this.

Mainly, I think you are a talented writer. We can spot our own, as it were. I just don't want you to fall into a mold and be stuck writing predicatable work. I feel you are already close with every story save one having Spike be a weakling and Buffy the half angsty/half evil hero.

I point to your story, I beleive called Trust, where Buffy almost kills Spike. But insteadof him being weak, you twisted it 180 and made BUFFY the weakling and the one that was longing, and Spike tough. There, you were able to break the mold.

I hope you can do it again, or this story, for me, will get real old.

Spike was right all along Buffy would give him back to Xander. Now he has no one to trust they're all guilty of giving him back too his abuser. Still want to see if this makes them all feel better. Great Chapter, Good Story,

Oh, crap! Still, Xander has made a critical error, and the time for the attack has come. I'm totally not worried, because I know Spike is going to overcome his fear and fight back, because he's Spike. And, barring that, like a little lock is going to keep out an overbearing Slayer. Xander is toast. Great update, DoS!

Oh I just KNEW that lock would work against poor Spike! Gaaahhhh. I hope Buffy really, really comes to see who selfish her little plan is/was. She just does not listen (much ike Giles). There were so many other ways (not to mention simply believing Spike over Xander).

Frankly I'm surprised Xander hasn't contacted Willow with some story about Spike setting him up to get Buffy and then Willow helping Xan in some way that would go against Spike.....guess it's a great thing she's still in Merry Ole'!

This is really a classic story and utterly unique. So very well done on all levels.

And Dawn was exactly right in her thoughts...that Spike's doing this just to please Buffy, even though she's being unreasonable....stupid bitch. I would really love to see Spike go over to Dawn and Angel and cast Buffy aside as not fully trusted anymore. I HATE that he's being taken advantage of like this just because he isn't at full mental strength, yet. She manipulated him because he isn't fully *Spike* again.

Evil!! I was so hoping we would be rewarded by knowing if anyone other than Spike was privy to Xander's little speech. Let me say, please, please let that be the case! I can't stand the thought of poor Spike being subjected to more pain.
