I SOOOOOOO can not wait to read the rest of this, but I'm about to go to sleep.

I noticed the chip wasn't working, and hoped that would be the case. Actually I was wondering if that bullet in the head had actually blown it out of there. That's been in my mind since the beginning. Really interested if that's the case, or if the bullet damaged it in some way. Anyway KUDOS. Very inventive if torturous, and heartbreaking way to get rid of the damned thing.

I hope Spike rips him to pieces and fishes with the bits left over. Xander's gonna find out that you don't torture Spike. I bloody well hope.

I will pick this back up tomorrow. When I don't have to backspace and fix spelling errors every few words. My vision is blurry, very sleepy.

I certainly HOPE he knows that . And that he kicks Xander's ass!

Extreemly well written chapter, from the second I started reading I got sucked in the story.

I think it's good for Anya that she finally stood up to Xander, more power to her!
I'm confused though, I thought vengeance demons couldn't be hurt by bullets?

too bad Spike never got to really state his vengeance wish, it would have all been solved easily that way.

Angel is right to be angry with Buffy, I hope she finally realizes what her plan is costing Spike.

Can't they phone Willow to find a counterspell for her own spell? She should be able to tell them if not perform it herself.

It's great that Spike can fight against Xander (never was a fan of the chip ^^) but does he have enough of his strenght back? And does he have enough confidence in himself to actually fight back?
And how will everybody react if Spike fights back?

Xander must know by now it was a test, or atleast that his cover is blown...*bites nails* oh I do hope Spike won't be hurt anymore, it pains me to see him get hurt :(

I so can't wait until Xander gets his. I can't believe that Spike made that wish and I really thought Anya would grant it.... I can't wait to see Buffy, Angel or even Spike to get his/her hands on him....

Thank God for mixed blessings...that's for sure! Maybe the memory of the chip is not there and he didn't realized the significance of his tackling a human without pain?

Whew! But how much does poor Spike even know? I got that he only recently discovered he is a vampire, much less one with (or without as is the case) a chip! My guess is he has no real memory of the chip to hold him back only his conditioning from the torture/capture would keep him from fighting back.

BTW the PTSD is accurate. Victims often don't fight back once they have "lost" badly already (be it rape or violence) making it easier for them to victimized again. They are "defeated" in their mind before they even try to fight back. This is clinically correct and well demonstrated here. Spike was able to try to help Anya even though he felt it not possible to fight for himself. EXCELLENT.

Look forward to the rest. Now Willow has some answering to do as well. To dispence with magical formula's willy nilly is dangerous as using it as she has in the past! Willow could have called Giles to ask about the situation and should be called to task on not doing so.

I can see Spike being the one to reclaim his sense of self by defeating Xander on his own. I do hope he does not kill him however as it would only cause more problems than he is worth (Xander that is). Vengeance is called for and a great beat down but I think a lifetime in a straight jacket would be more appropriate (unless he dies by his own hand or something). Emotionally I'd love to see Xander torn limb from limb but realistically I believe in punishment not exceeding the crime so death would be out, at least by Spike's hand or fang (although a good near draining would be highly appropriate and how neat if Spike stopped on his own showing himself in full control of his demon!).

The whole time I sat there saying 'oh no, oh no, oh no.' Then Xander took Spike and dissappeared and then it turned into 'oh my God.'

I will agree with Bridget though...you only have about one more beating of Spike before this goes from intense to...well...over the top snuff film.

I think we are real close to creating the Dreamsofspike Law of 4-You can only beat a hero down four times before they fight back. Anymore is simply ...cheesy

Of course there is the Mr. Chaos Rule of 1 Million- YOu are allowed to beat up the villian that many times before it gets cheesy.

Definitely mixed blessings. I guess Anya didn't get enough of a wish from Spike to enact any vengeance.

interesting chapter. Would be easy to get mad at the fact that you pulled one of your favorite tricks out, the old "Switchero" (We think everything is fine, then you make it not so), you having smartly spilled the beans that Spike needs to defeat Xander makes it make sense, in a way.

Two comments-

-THe way you are playing it, even if Spike beats Xander...and no,this isn't another Angel should get Spike away from buffy rant...there needs to be the 'villian sings' moment. The moment where Xander explains to Buffy why he didall this.

-I won't insult your inteligence by asking if you will conect Willow to Xander with the magic. You obviously have a plan, and if willow is invovled,that has yet to be seen.

My question invovled Vengence.

Xander admitted to hurting Anya. He has done so again. That means Anya is intitled to a vengence wish against him. And I am sure 100% that he boss would grant it, becuase I know he would not like a mortal hurting one of his girls.

Now, while you could play this off rather easily with a sideways comment from Anya about not being able to get vengence, there is another way...

Have Anya wish for Xander to get his punishment from the person that hurt him the most.

It would still fit with anything involving Spike you have planned, and would address that. Besides, it would be a very twisted wish, just the kind Anya likes.

That, or you could go for door 2: While it would be easy to kill Xander, I must quote a bit of a hero of mine...the Green Goblin:

"We make him wish he was dead...then grant his wish...The Cunning warrior neither attacks the body or the mind...the heart, (Dear Writer)...first, we attack his heart!"

Want to be evil? Have Xander be wished into spending eternity alone with his father...unable to ever get away from him.

Oh. My. Lord. Yet another twist. I do believe you're a wee bit sadistic.
Can't wait to see this develop. Hopefully now is the time for Spike to begin exacting his own vengence. I'm praying that is the case.

Xander and Spike disappeared? AHHHHHHHHAAHHHHHHAHHHHH!!!!! That wasn't at the end of the chapter, so technically, it's not a cliffhanger, but that has to be best surprise so far.

Chip's not there anymore...but that big question - does Spike know he can save himself - is what everyone needs an answer to.

There are only a couple ways this plan could have gone any more belly up. Okay, so....Xander's "escape clause" would take him somewhere he feels safe - his apartment, except that all his friends can come there; the Initiative caves, since it would take them a while to get there, and he already has chains in the place; somewhere random, or somewhere new. Meanwhile, no one's heard from Riley in several days. Is he still just patrolling at night around town? Given up on getting close to Buffy? Been eaten?

Thing to do now is get something of Xander's and do a locator spell. He won't be able to block that, and Giles can perform it easily. Searching randomly through town will take too long.

I guess it is something that Spike's chip is not working but I am dissapointed that Spike had to take another beating at the hands of Xander. I hope you don't let this go on much longer. It is notreally fun reading Spike getting beat up continuously.

As has been proven repeatedly--sometimes people will do things to save others that it would never occur to them to do in order to save themselves. Looks like Spike is no different. I can't help but think that Xander's initial torture (either the gunshot or the beatings) is what killed the chip.

Spike’s skull exploded with devastating, deafening pain - whew scared me there for a minute.

More twists. And, whose helping Xander with all this magic? Willow? Amy? Rack? He was dead, but evil writer may bring him back for her own deeply violent purposes. Can't wait for more.

For crying out loud! How do they expect Spike to attack Xander when he has been beaten down so badly. Not to mention Xander shot Anya for telling him the truth, so who knows what he'll do to Spike. He's going to be out for blood now that he realizes everyone knows about him. Hopefully Angel will be able to sense him through their connection or they will be able to find out where Xander took him soon
