And if Xander kills his parents the human authorities will be able to prove it unlike what he did to Spike.

Pretty annoying that Willow refused to believe what Buffy was telling her - guess she really did need that videotape after all. Of all people, you'd think Willow would know about stepping onto the dark side.

Well what a surprise another cliffhanger. I am surprised that you brought Willow into the mix but I am sure it is necessary. Hopefully, nothing more will happen to Spike. At this point I don't know where this story is going but I still look forward to the next chapter. I do wish the chapters were longer.

I'm really concerned at the number of emotions Xander is spiraling through. Not to mention his wanting to deny responsibility for his actions. I wonder if he's going to attack his parents, since he thinks it's their fault, and while i worry for them I'd be ok if it kept him from Spike until they rescue him.

I just knew Giles was going to lose it after Anya got shot. i can see why he took it out on Willow, since she gave Xander the spell that allowed it to happen, but I'm glad he came back to himself and realized she didn't mean any harm. Hopefully Willow will be able to help them figure out away to get Spike back, or at the very least, cure Anya.

Is it because the guilt he feels over shooting Anya is too much to bear, so he is making excuses? Or was the damage done by his parents so great that they destroyed him before he even had a chance to mature?

Interesting spinn you put on the story. This chapter kind off emphasises the humanity in Xander...a scared little boy who learned that violence and alcohol are the answer to all life's problems.
Even so, is there really such a thing as humanity and demons? If you look at where 'humanity' has brought this world we don't have alot of kind acts to show for it.
The eternal question of good and evil... I really love how you portrait that in this story. Spike is about as evil as they come, but strip him from his memories, redeem him as it were into childhood and you see so much good in the 'evil' creature.
Whereas Xander, the pictureboy of perfect best friend has it in him to torture somebody. The whole nature versus nurture question...

Xander's pretty much painted himself into a corner and knows it, so now it's someone else's fault. Never mind that countless people overcome their upbringing every day to be better people. Looking forward to seeing Ripper in action. And if he survives, Xander's reaction to Giles/Anya.

Parent's basement...yeah, he's right. And now he's going to rid the world of Mr. Harris...but it won't fix Xander inside, of course...

Good chapter, if only because we didn't see the expected Spike-beating.

I have a sinking feeling that we are going to see Xander sent to the funny farm, rather then him get his just desserts.

Interesting to see Giles reaction to all this, as was Willows...though, I debate his point. I think Giles, had Xander asked him for a spell, would have done the same as Willow. Don't know why...he just always seems rather hypocritical to me.

Maybe it was just me...but this chapter felt shorter then most. I don't know why.

Things I hope to see:

-It would be nice to see Angel and Dawn have a moment of almost...bonding...over their hatred of Buffy.Those two are never friends, so it would be very interesting.

-It would be nice to see anything other then Buffy sobbing. Don't get me wrong, i want to see the bitch suffer. But now isn't the time for alot of waterworks. I'm reminded of Blood Bond, after Joyce returned, Buffy went to cry and Dawn called her a bitch. Something like that. Someone needs to find her in the middle of a pity party, and smackher down.


I am also getting the sense that this isn't the whole story. That this is the worlds longest prolouge, and you are going to pull a trust, and make most of the story about Buffy winning back the trust of Spike, Angel and Dawn.

I have a REALLY bad feeling here! I love this story, and you are writing it incerdibly well! I hang on every word. Update again soon please!

OH! Xander's dad is going to meet his maniacal son I think! Well there are laws against hurting humans, even marginal ones like Mr. Harris. Xander might be above the law regarding Spike and Anya but not if he goes off on daddy! It would be a funny twist of fate if Spike winds up saving the creep who created madXan.

Glad Giles nailed Willow (and how typical for her to not even listen to Buffy). Also glad she teleported in. I'm afraid it might take Buffy's "big gun" to finally deal with Xander at this point. He is certifiable.

Wonder what Riley's been up to and if he'll put in an appearance again (and on whose side).

Excellent as always. This is one scary story mostly because THIS sort of monster (abused child going off the deep end) is all too common in real life....no fictional demon here! The abuse Xander suffered may have caused the desire to hurt others but personal responsibility DOES figure in. He has chosen to become the monster is is now...he could have chosen otherwise. What happened to Xander was wrong and terrible but no excuse for his bulllying and eventual murderous sick behavior towards Spike.

BTW hon you have a typo here;Spike drew back against the wall when his footsteps came too near to WEAR he huddled, half-sitting, half-kneeling, on the floor. It should be where. Spell check is weird that way *G*.

wow - deeply disturbing, and yet logical plot twist. Nicely done.

Just caught up (and after forty-seven chapters, that's no small feat!) and I already want more. See, this is why I rarely read WIPs (although I feel a bit of a hypocrite, since I have one myself that I want people to read :P), because I always want more. :) On a more personal note, I'd like to say that after having read some of your earlier works, I feel your writing style has really been fleshed-out and fine tuned; kudos! I think it's one of the greatest things to come out of writing fanfiction; to really hone in on personal style. And you and I seem to have this bad habit of updating our stories really really close to each other. :P Keep up the good work!
