Damn Will's!
lol..

Whoa, Willow is beyond scary. Can't believe that she'd go after Xander. Ewwww...
lol...huh? why ewwww? Xander deserves to be gotten!!! lol

Spike really deserves some type of justice. I don't know what Willow is going to do but at least first of all everyone jumped to Spike's defense. I really have no concern for Xander. He really just showed how black his heart truly has been. Great chapter.
thanx so much, love :)

Whoa! Scary and totally unexpected - gotta love it. Innovative, inventive - can't think of enough ways to describe how creative you are with the wicked plot twists. Didn't see this coming at all. That's what I love about this fic, and why I can't wait to read more. :)
thanx so much, love, so glad you've enjoyed it :)

I hope she realizes what she is about to do. This could have some very bad outcomes, but I see Spike stopping her just by his words!

I'm all with Willow..evil as that sounds.

loved the update, thank you. had a momentary concern for red's well-being if she rips xander apart. decided he deserves even worse and she has earn the consequences for what she has already done.
thanx, love :)

Good chapter. Although, I was not surprised that Willow's anger was directed at Xander. It could only be directed at him because of their past history. I hope that you won't let the remaining scoobies beat up to much on Buffy because although it was a stupid plan instead of everyone saying what a bad idea it was they could have helped her refine it. I just don't want to spend a lot of time reading about how everything is Buffy's fault.
I hope that Willow does not kill Xander, but I think she will put him into some type of prison where he will have to face himself. That would be the better solution instead of death.
thanx, love, glad you liked the way it went :)

Wow I am shocked at how full of vengance Willow is towards Xander. I know she's feeling betrayed by his actions, but I never thought she would take it to that point. Out of all the people pledging vengance when Spike was first found, who would have guessed that Willow would be the one to actively pursue it. As much as I think Xander deserves to be punished I don't think Willow should do it because it will change her in devastating ways.
thanx so much, love :)

I don't know BT -- if you had been tortured for MONTHS, and were consistently reacting to a given person (Xander) with nothing but abject terror and trauma -- would you feel loved or even cared for if others (Buffy) insisted on you confronting that person (Xander)ALONE? I wouldn't. Not at all. I'd think that my terror and trauma didn't count for very much in the scheme of things. And that's not even taking into account the inherent riskiness of the plan. Or the fact that the (somewhat understandable) need to get more evidence requires that Spike's testimony be discounted. All in all, Spike's was not being treated as a person whose voice matters or whose feelings are worthy of respect.

DOS -- a series of gripping chapters. Thanks much. I totally read this chapter as Willow going after Xander, so not so much of a twist for me at the end. (I think I just know how to read you, I never doubted from the opening chapter that Xander was the culprit, either). Anyway, I'm looking forward to more explanation for why Willow would flip out on Xander so quickly. I'm not quite seeing the emotional basis for the response. Devestating disappointment, sure. But wanting to end him? Not saying there's not an emotional basis for it -- just needing help to see where it's coming from.
thanx so much, love, so glad you enjoyed it...and i agree with your points as for how spike would feel, but that doesn't mean that's how buffy intended it or that she *really* didn't care about him...

02/05/2007 05:10 pm
Well DoS, that was quite a twist! But isn't Willow doing the pot & kettle thing?
Does her love for Spike really mean little to Buffy? I know she set him up for this plan, and it went wrong (doomed from the start, really - Buffy + plans = Spike + plans most of the time, after all) but she probably honestly thought she could keep Spike safe. Perhaps she could have, if all of them had thought the plan through more carefully - somebody (Giles? Angel?) hiding in the room with the camera certainly would have gone a long way to keeping him safe and providing the necessary proof. (I do happen to think that proof was needed in order to convince Willow and perhaps Giles that Xander was the bad guy.)
SO - maybe Buffy didn't come up with a _very_good_plan_, but that doesn't mean that her love for Spike is meaningless to her, it just means that she's a bad planner. Didn't they all agree to the plan? Couldn't Giles (as the person in the group who is actually GOOD at planning) help her refine it to something better?
Does Buffy love Spike? Yes. Does she love Xander? Well, she did - as a friend, and has for a LONG time. In fact, she's relied on him to help her in her mission for years. How could someone who has helped save the world from evil for so long become that evil which he despises?
Buffy has to reconcile her love for these 2 people, try to be sure that she really is meeting out justice to evil, and that people who will judge her know that she did everything in her power to prove she was accusing the right person - particularly since it's one of their own.
I know I'd have a hard time believing that one of my close friends could do something like this, and I would need hard proof if he were accused - and not just the word of someone who was somewhat on the periphery, that I didn't necessarily trust. If she just went off to punish Xander, without the full support of the group, they would have somewhat blamed her, but mostly blamed Spike - because he's not the one they have stood with all this time, she is. They would have eventually blamed him, shut him out and perhaps convinced Buffy that she was wrong to take matters into her own hands. It would rip her apart to be in the middle of a mess like that.
Buffy's idea was a bad one, and it came out badly, but at the core, I think she was trying to do what was right, out of love for both Xander and Spike.
thanx, love, very well put :)

And I though Xander was the unstable one of the bunch. *Puts hands over eyes* No flaying alive, please?

OMG!!! Amazing chapter and you really had me thinking Willow was going to hurt Spike until I remembered what she said to Xander in the last one.

This is really the most incredible story! But Willow needs to let Spike finish dishing it out so to speak and I am so proud of what he has done so far. Absobloody fantastic!

I loved this chapter! I thought it was kinda cool how no one seemed to remember what Willow had said at the end of the last chapter.

“Xander, what have you done?”

They all thought she would jump in and hurt Spike and I think that's because if they had walked in on that scene with only second-hand knowledge of the previous events, they would have turned on Spike.

So I'll say it again, I loved this chapter!
lol...caught that, eh? :)

Of course she needs to take out her anger on the one person she's trusted all her life! Xander. His betrayal was monumental in her mind. Very surprised that Anya didn't grant Willow's wishes, but I'm glad she didn't because that would mean that Buffy would be back to being a bitch to Spike and though he's already been though the worst of it now he can have what his heart desires. Thanks sweetie, love this.
thanx so much, love :) glad you liked it :)

Wow! Now THAT I didn't see coming! I'm a little surprised that Willow doesn't "understand" why Xander snapped....at least with his parents. I would HOPE she wouldn't approve of what he did to Spike but her conclusion about needing to end Xander is chilling. She must see the same darkness in him that she saw in Warren.

On pins and needles here for more. Surprising chapter and well done.

Oh, another thing: how is this going to look to the rest of the group? Buffy's hesitating even though she claims to love Spike, and Willow who's hung up on the bottle in the face is rushing to put down his tormentor, the boy she bonded with over a yellow crayon. Sorry, it just wouldn't leave my head. Oh, the possibilities for drama. . .
yeah, there's all sorts of drama afoot :P

Yep...had a feeling all along that she wasn't focused on Spike. This is the worst betrayal in Willow's mind...the hypocrisy that Xander's shown all along. It's possible she's even learned to literally see to the heart of his being...not just see the evidence in the room, but in his soul....well, we all see again exactly why D'Hoffryn tried to recruit her.
thanx for your review, love, glad you're enjoying the story :)

That was a bit of a twist! I have to say though, that you did give it away in some of your phrasing. Amazing! To be honest, I kind of hope that she DOESN'T kill Xander, that's way too big of a decision to make in the heat of the moment, and I don't want her turning on Spike afterwards. Plus, I hate when she played the part of the executioner with Warren, and this situation has VERY little to do with her, other than her blind trust she has for the inner group. Oh well, that was an amazing chapter. I'll follow you, whichever way you go!

Whooo, not feeling entirely sympathetic to Xander right now, facing Dark Willow, but that's still a scary concept. Glad she's focusing that anger at a specific target this time.

I regret skipping ahead super quick (wondering if Spike would leave in this chapter, or if he would talk to buffy), only to read the last line.

Saying that, even with the ending given away, it was a very smart move on your part. I bet your tricked everyone who read it as it should be read. And, reading it knowing what Willow meant, made this section all the more interesting.

The only thing I have to comment on is this: I hope that there will be a moment where someone points out that with the Scoobies, it is hit first, question later. They are all like...well, Xander's father: Hit the person to make it better.

Buffy hits Spike and shoved Dawn (I am still holding you to the fact that Buffy has to be called out for hurting her sister).

Xander...well, we know all that.

Giles has had his ripper moments in his past...

And Willow just now decided the best course of action was to shove her friends.

Ever read "Penny for your Thoughts" The Scoobies need to visit anger management. I will gladly volenteer to act as mediator.
lol..that's what you get for skipping to the end, love :P

so glad you enjoyed the chapter, and i agree with you as for the scoobies having a tendency to strike first, deal with consequences later... *sigh*

and i haven't read "penny" yet, though i definitely intend to :)

Oh very nice! I love this twist! I was about to get really frustrated with the fact that there seemed to be no freaking end in sight of the crap Spike has to go through, but THIS is nice. I love Willow not turning on Spike, but turning on Xander. For ONCE, evil or not, she sees the reality of the situation. I would have loved to see Spike put him down, but this is good too.
thanx, love, so glad you liked it :)

Woo Hoo! Go, Willow!!! And mark my words, that's a sentence you will never hear from me again. In fact, I'm surprised it ever passed my fingers in the first place.

Excellent chapter.
