Chapter: Alive

I really liked this, not violent Buffy, but not insta-in love Buffy either. A Buffy who's actually having to work through her problems and it's nice to not have her friends totally bashed.

Wonderful treatment of the theme - Buffy having to find her love of life and finding herself again - add that Spike was her way back and we have a great Spuffy variation.

You really did a wonderful job portraying the inner workings of Spike in this story. It was well written and a great story. I am excited to read the next parts.
Thanks

The end? When does SPike get his reward? Liked the way you let Xander take the dragon - that was just neat.
Hmm... reward? Maybe in the sequel. :)

The Hardest Thing in the World

What a moving story.
Buffy coming to terms with her new life in a moment of danger and choosing to live.
Spike actually saving Buffy fulfilling his promises.
It was also a pleasure seeing Xander be heroic.
Love the tender happy ending.
Thanks for the review! I'm glad you enjoyed it.

That was a very powerful scene, especially on Spike's part. Absolutely love how you brought his words to life 'Every night I save you...' He came through in the end this time.
Thank you! I think they both needed to relive that moment in order to heal - Buffy to value her life, and Spike to get over his failure. So glad you liked it!

oh that just about made me cry, love, such a sweet, intense scene...i was on the edge of my seat through the action, and then fell apart with spike and buffy after he saved her...excellent work, love ;)
Okay, you caught me. My goal for this story was "make DoS cry." (Well, you've done it enough times to me... so I invented a little thing I call "payback.") So glad to have you along for the ride!

Eowyn, this was such a wonderful story. What a pleasure from beginning to end. Great action scenes, great emotion. I'm so glad Xander got a chance to be a hero...and the parallels between the end of Season 5 and the end of this story were lovely, too. I can't wait to see what you write next, whether it's a sequel or something else entirely. Also, you ought to get on the stick and write an original fantasy novel as soon as possible...if you haven't already!
Thank you so much! I wanted the ending to mirror season 5's end, because it was really Buffy and Spike's way of confronting what happened to them, overcoming the pain and the fear, and being able to move on.

Original fantasy novel, eh? Oooh, don't know about that. The reason I write fanfic is because I'm not creative enough to come up with original characters and plots, lol. But I certainly appreciate your faith in me! :)

You know this screams sequel, don't you? Giles so needs his ass kicked for sending her out on her own. So not like going after Sweet. Thankful for Spike being able to save her this time. It helped both of them, and brought them closer together, all the scoobies really. It's been a wonderful adventure, looking forward to more *crosses fingers*, thanks.
I know it does, I did it on purpose! :) I purposely left some things unresolved, knowing I wanted to continue - like Giles, for example. And although Buffy and Spike are definitely closer, they're still not *together* - and that's going to be a long, painful process ('cause I feel like you gotta earn it when they get together).

Thanks for reviewing - I'm glad you've enjoyed the story.

A great way to come alive!
Nothing like dangling hundreds of feet above ground to make you really value your life! :)

Lovely....I'm sure there will be lots of us begging for a sequel (add my voice). Would love to see the aftermath.

So nicely done. Love Spike finally getting his chance to "make up" for not saving her from the other fall. Enjoyed Xander slaying the dragon (with Anya's help).

All details of this story are spot on. Excellent.

Kathleen
No need for begging! I had already decided while writing this that I wanted to do a whole season 6 in this AU.

I really liked the idea of giving Xander some heroics. He so often gets made out to be a bad guy in Spuffy fics. Yeah, he's a jerk sometimes, but I kinda like the guy.

Thanks for the review!

In the epilogue, I'd like to see Buffy go back and kick Giles' butt up and down the street for being a stereotypical Watcher and deliberately sending her to her death.
Don't worry, in the next story, there will definitely be repercussions from Giles' decision, and it will affect his relationship with the Scoobies. Probably no actual butt-kicking, as I think Buffy's too nice to hit someone as old as Giles.
