Adding to what Pfeifferpack said about William's education, let us not forget he also could read Latin with ease, knew a bit of Italian...but couldn't speak German. Spike probably knows tons of language--human and demon ;) Meh, he's an egg head--just a sexy one.

Ooh! This is the chapter! See, the first time I read this fic, I loved this exchange:

"Sun goes down, Spike comes up."

"Clothes come off." He sat on the bed, raised her shirt and kissed the small of her peach-soft back. "Spike goes down."

"Not tonight, Spike doesn't."

He raised his head and ventured, "Buffy goes down?"

Then, when you started working on it again, I reread, and this was the one bit I remembered the best. And it still makes me giggle the third time through. It's that hopeful "Buffy goes down?" that kills me every time.

Hee. Can't say he doesn't try...

I'm flattered that that little exchange stuck with you. :)

You know I don't think its that much of a character stretch. William obviously had some education coming from (at least) middle class. At that time in history French would have been part of his training. My guess is that if he spoke Fyral he remembered French.

Love the bonding and love Joyce and Giles coming around. In spite of the threat the happy family gives me a big smile.

You know, I never thought of that! What a fabulous justification, I'm totally using that from now on.

Thanks for all your lovely reviews. :)
