No, you are wrong, more than one person noticed your use of Bohemian Rhapsody.  There was just so much going on, I didn't mention it until I went back and read your reviews b/c there was so much to cover.  I too love that song in particular, and Queen in general.  My favorite song... well one of my other favorite queen songs is Death on Two Legs, which would be a great title for a fic, come to think of it!

Not sure where to start, but I'll start with the end because, well, Dru is my favorite of all the non pricipals, maybe just my favorite, the pixies argue, you see.  Anyway, I am glad she got her sanity back, though probably a slightly demented one, as the rat bastard was a sociopath.  Still, Ms. Justice got what she needed, and Riley got what she deserved.  I mean. he.  A bullet was much too nice, and the sanity extraction was a luscious, appropriate cherry on top.  So interesting how even the demons in this story knew the wrong that Riley did.  I have said that I think rape; particularly the rape of children is a crime far worse than murder.  I have seen nothing here to dissuade me of that.

Anyway, I don't read rape stories, mostly. I mostly only read this b/c someone on the forum recommended it as being something more than well worth reading and I am deeply grateful that I did.  It made me think hard about my book in progress which involves the same topic among other things.  I think too many books/fics either gloss over or (stomach churningly, IMO) seem to celebrate the rape-sex.  This is the only story where it was described in any detail where I didn't feel that it was done for its titillation.  It was shocking in the necessary ways, but not gory for the sake of gore. 

Thank you for building all the relationships SLOWLY.  Nothing happens right away.  Healing is slow and trust takes time.  I'm glad that you made them align right away on the correct side of the divide - sadly, it's shocking how often existing relationships and friendships get destroyed even when the rapist is clearly at fault and even when they are a stranger (I suspect 'stranger rape', is actually more of a rarity than most people would like to believe).   But they did not get instant friendships, just add a little rape.  The Buffy relationship didn't end happy ever after right away b/c the beautiful princess suddenly came around, and everything was 'all better' with Spike because of true love.  Rape is so much messier than that... and of course, so is Buffy's relationship history and their mutual brokenness.  You did GOOD.

I never saw Dru coming.  I knew you had decided to use her, but I didn't know just how and when.  It was perfect.  I still think it was a huge plot hole that Spike could be on that train and not know it was Dru, but the original canon material made it seem he really didn't smell her.  So, I don't hold you responsible for that.  Glad you brought her in for a visit.  Very glad.  I love her.  (If you've ever read any of my work on twisting the Hellmouth, you'll know I have a sweet spot for her in my heart)

I love how you ended this - NOT that turning Riley Insane was justice - but sounds like he was ready for a lot more human evil - I'll think of it as preventive intervention.

Just discovered this fine fic of yours. (So good, I read it all in one shot). Truly a Bloody masterpiece. While I  always suspected that Spike had been a victim of sorts during his early days as a fledge, the rest..? Very well done. It isn't an easy thing, getting those particualr emotions right. But you did, & then some. As for Riley being a sick F**k..? The plastic stake said it all: a torture implement, & one he kept on hand. (Yeesh!) A pity Riley didn't suffer worse. (if only Dru had doused him in Chirago demon phermones, and..? you get the idea.) I never liked Drusilla until this fic (Harmony..? only amused). You nailed them both, character-wise, as well as making them intruiging. I have a Spuffy scale for the finer fics... You just broke it. (in an amazingly good way).

Excellent ending, an incorporation of Crush, but with all of your events behind it.  And Drusilla rocks!

Brilliant weaving of canon happenings with your verse.  Totally loving the ending. 

I read this story from chapter one to fourteen in one sitting.  I couldn't leave it alone.  Or it wouldn't leave me alone.  I don't know which, but I was truly shocked, entertained, thrilled and pleased.

terrific ending! FLOVED dru...both helping spike and ruining riley.  I really like how you showed buffy's need for acceptance from her friends, but also, how she felt she couldn't fully trust a guy.  and i absolutely loved them making new memories over the old.  and i liked that spike cried.  excellent, excellent story! i've really enjoyed the journey.

Figures it takes a scare to make Buffy get over herself. Poor Spike, they would have been in limbo forever if something didn't shake her up!

Okay.....I have to say I take wicked pleasure in the last bit.  Dru regaining her sanity is wonderful (toss in a soul and you'd have a fab. character for a sequel...maybe an interesting combo with Giles Tee hee) and that she's getting it while revenging Spike with Riley is extra special.  Yup, that appeals to me in a deep way. YAY you!

Love this extra bit.  I enjoyed the story all the way through and even though I thought it was complete, I am happier for this last bit.

This wrapped the story up perfectly! I loved the way Buffy finally opened up, Drusilla eating Bed and taking Glory's powers was ingenious, and the way Riley paid was awesome!
Oh! And the 'undercover date' part had me giggling so hard my stomach hurts!
