Wow, great analysis of Spike's character. I'm glad you had Buffy come to all those realizations; I just wish she'd done it in the show, too. It was sweet to see the interactions of Spike and Joyce and how he risked the head pain to selflessly save Joyce from the biker demon.
Spike was always so multi-layered and fascinating, and I really wanted Buffy to start seeing that! And I thought Spike would always put himself right out there and risk the pain to protect anyone who cared for him - even slightly. He valued Joyce and her friendship. Thank you for liking it!

Hey! I was gonna wait 'til the end of the story to comment but I had to write and tell ya how much I loved the part when Buffy FINALLY realizes that Spike indeed can love!

I could never figure out why, on the show, Buffy kept saying Spike wasn't capable of love. It was so clear that he loved Dru and had loved her for 120 years. Buffy should at least have seen that in 'Lie To Me' when he gives up killing all those vamp wannabee kids at that vampire club just because Buffy threatened Dru. So I thought, in this story, let's have Buffy really think. I'm so glad you liked it!

tht was so awesome!!! i loved it! adored it!!! love the spike/joyce friendship (big fan of tht) and spike hittin a demon for joyce and then figuring out he can hurt demons and goin to willies... totally spike. and the spuffy kiss? ADORED IT!!! this fic is awesome!!

Whoa....heat, passion celebration..Spike's having quite a night.
I love that the story is so plausable. It could have been written this way had they chosen to and all would have been in character. I like your smart Buffy (you know for an avowed feminist Joss sure made her a dim bulb in all ways but the fighting!). Love the relationship between Joyce and Spike implied on camera and spelled out here. Love the growing realizations and emotions between them.
Lovely story!!! Buffy's life would have been so much happier and healthier had it gone this way.

Joss does make her very closed-minded. I so often wanted to whack her over the head and yell, 'Think!' So this story was a 'what if college made her think?' I'm so glad you're liking it so far!
