I just loved this chapter and the brutal honesty of their talk - The Choice to change or not - that "hold me while you can" is a wonderful line. Spike's brutal and honest answer of "yes," - Powerful use of words. Well Done

OH dear....painful honesty. I can so see both of their points here and it sums up the real problem between them. As long as he has no problem killing people she can't fully embrace him. Until he can see it from her perspective and actually alter his very nature it cannot be light and easy. THIS is angst built in.
Lovely chapter filled with real meat and potatoes of the relationship mixed with lots of loving sweetener.

Thank you for the congrats! Yes, the thing hanging in the air between Buffy and Spike is no longer hanging. And she has been thinking about what will happen after their agreement, even if she hasn't brought it up until now. Even though Spike cares for Buffy, he is still very much a vampire, and any sort of change will not be easy. Glad you enjoyed, and thank you so much for reviewing!

You deserve more awards for this chapter alone--so bitter sweet. Joss forgot after Spike got chipped that he was a vampire. You never did; in this chapter your Spike shows that while he may care about Buffy, his essense is still pure vampire. You brought out some poignant truths in their conversation. I'm so curious as to how you are going to resolve it. Marvelous writing!
Ah! I happen to be planning a season 4/5 fic that explores everyone forgetting that Spike is still a vampire after he gets chipped...but I digress. :) Yes, in this story, Spike may be falling for Buffy, but that doesn't mean he's suddenly changing what he is. Or even that he wants to. There will be more ups and downs before a resolution is reached... Glad you enjoyed, and thanks for reviewing!

Oh boy - if you hadn't already won some angst awards, this chapter would certainly have done it!
And I never intended to write angst, I swear! Not angsty angst, anyway. But I guess 'Spike's a killer' + 'Buffy's not' = Instant Angst. :) Thanks for reviewing!
