at least this buffy shows a little more compassion than canon buffy. very good chapter, thank you.
I was trying to keep her close to canon, but give her reasons to act differently : ) She wasn't all bad, but she's going to be a little better in my verse. Just because Spike deserves better.

Love Spike's line at the end where he brought up the Gem: nice way to catch her off guard, if he keeps it up he might get her to accidently reveal where she has hidden the gem

I always felt sorry for Spike in that episode - everybody sitting around having a nice dinner and he's forced to sit there and watch them eat. Very rude of them.

I am really enjoying this story. I like the little tweaks of canon events that show Buffy is actually thinking and not just folowing a script. Could she give Spike a pillow? As someone with back pain I have always cringed at the unthinking torture of that bathtub marathon poor Spike was put through.
Somehow, your name did not show up. But, I'm glad you are enjoying the story. I feel for you. I have bad knees. I know the discomfort of chronic pain. *hugs*
