Four years have passed since a certain peroxide blond vampire was last seen in Sunnydale losing the Gem of Amara to the Slayer. Since that time the Initiative has introduced chipped vampires into a form of slavery, available to selected bidders. Weary and disillusioned, Buffy succumbs to her absent Watcher’s advice to obtain a vampire bodyguard to help her in the fight against evil.

A different take on how Buffy and Spike might have taken Angelus down. It's an odd POV changing between Buffy and Spike, which may take a little to get into, but once you're there it's worth it, I'm told! TimeLine: Set in Season Two, not hugely canon.

Revised Summary: ROMANCE Picks up at the end of "Never Leave Me" and goes AU from there with some spots of canon. Spoilers through season 7, but I'll be flying pretty loose on the continuity. (A girl's gotta do what a girl's gotta do) Will be a crossover with alternate season four of AtS as well as the Wolf Lake-verse. Post The Gift, Spike becomes dependent on Scooby care to make it through the night. Buffy is gone, the bot is absent. When it seems the Hellmouth is deprived completely of a protector, Giles and the Scoobies take matters into their own hands, and unleash their worst nightmare. Not bitey yet, but will be.
